We accept referrals directly from parents, teachers, general practitioners, specialists and community support workers however we require direct contact from the child’s parents or carers in order to schedule assessments and appointments. We accept EPC referrals from GP’s.
Please complete the New Client Enquiry form and email admin@speechforkids.com.au
We advise that parents/carers seek an up to date hearing assessment for their child prior to attending the initial assessment appointment.
A consent form will be discussed with you which you will need to sign and you will be provided with a complete schedule of fees for services. Click here to download our Consent Form and Fee Schedule. The consent form can be completed prior to the appointment and given to the therapist on the day. If you have any questions about the Consent Form please ask your therapist at your appointment.
You should allow 60-90 minutes for an initial consultation however for a comprehensive assessment more than one appointment may be required. You first consult will involve talking to you about your child and their past and current development followed by a set of assessment activities that may be formal or informal depending on the child’s skills and abilities. A recommendation will be discussed with you regarding the frequency and timing of ongoing therapy sessions should they be required. A written report will be provided detailing the assessment results and recommendations.
A standard individual therapy session runs for 45 minutes. Parents are invited into the sessions so they can watch the strategies and activities that are being used to help support their child’s speech and language development. Play based activities, games and stories are used in the sessions to engage the children and make the work fun. Homework activity ideas will be provided at the end of each session so that goals can continue to be supported through the week at home.
